“My beach ball print is now available on some cute swim suits, baby & kid clothes for Ollie Jay.”

Saul Flores

“The Flatiron Building stands tall against the cloudy backdrop. ☁️🕐 No matter where you turn, or who you meet, there’s this constant cinematic vibe in the air. With so much happening around, it’s hard to pinpoint where to direct your attention. But that’s the beautiful thing about it all – going with the flow.” 🌬️

“Done is better than perfect, right? Right?” 😂

“Bows!” 🎀

“Did this pattern the other day. Thinking I might remove the “shine” on the lips though. It kinda looks like weird cut off lips to me. 😂 I want it to look like lipstick kisses smooching all over. 💋 not 👄. Thoughts?”

“Man. 👨🏻 This pattern has been through several color changes. I found that whenever I’d get a version I really liked, it didn’t look good on a mock-up. Finally landed on the one you see on the baby dress. I think. 😆 It’s less impressive on its own, but I like it best in application. Swipe to see other options I tried.”

“My coworker loves cats so I illustrated this little guy for her card from the team.” 😸

“As I have been working on a concept for a new painting, I have reflected on how drawn I am to emotion invoking artwork. You can capture an entire story or lifetime in one scene. That’s magic. So tell me, does this drawing invoke any kind of emotion for you?”

We have put this off for as long as we could, but we now must accept the inevitable: Please join us Jan 27th for a night free of whimsy, frolic and shenanigans of any kind as we release our EP in the company of friends, collaborators and colleagues. “Time meets contrast. ⏳🌑 A perfect blend of moments.”

“Exploring every angle, from left to right, upward and downward, the city paints a vivid panorama. In this urban theater, imagination takes the lead role. Each moment is a treasure of stories.”

“The details are there. Question is, can you notice them?” 👀🔎

“24 words for 2024 – I can’t believe another year has come and gone so quickly. 2023 has been a rollercoaster of a year but it has also taught me a lot. Over the last 6 months I’ve collected a myriad of words and phrases on a mirror in my room where I can read them every day and decided those were the things I wanted to take with me into 2024. Most are still connected to goals but many are just things I wanted to be reminded of heading into this next year. So here’s a new year, a new beginning and an opportunity to become who you want to be and do things you want to do. As @ben_rector says, ‘My friends, I believe that the best is yet to come.’ Happy New Year!”

Magen Mitchell

“Highlight of 2023? Winning the “Commune with Gallery Ghost” award from the @utahartsalliance, of course. Happy New Year!” 👻🎨

“Happy Holidays Everyone! Hope no one was snatched by any mimics under the Christmas tree this year. I’m thinking this piece “The Goblin Thief” might make for some good nerd holiday cards next year. Happy New Years, may you all roll a 20 for 2024!”

Matt Page

“Here’s a nutcracker based on the character Triple Combination from my Future Day Saints series of graphic novels. I was going to add holly berries and Christmas colors, but I just never got around to that, so here’s what I’ve got.” #FutureDaySaints

“I got a new printer and I have lots of plans to use it in 2024. One of my goals is to release 3 issues of my new zine series, A Thick Gray Voice. It will be a collection of short stories, auto-biographical pieces, character explorations, individual drawings, etc. Here’s the artwork I will use on the cover of volume 1. One of the stories in the first issue features an astronaut. Here is some process art, showing my first thumbnail, the tighter sketch, and finished line art. The title came to me in a dream. I don’t recall the context, I just know I woke up with those 4 words in my head.”

“Usagi Yojimbo in the style of Miffy. The combination of two great characters and designs I love.”

“New personal logo.”

“My new graphic novel (vol. 3 in the Future Day Saints series) is now available. I started shipping them earlier this week and they have already started arriving (at least one has that I know of). Every copy comes signed with a remark of my character Dr. Sunstone. You can get yours at https://epluribusmormon.square.site/

OR

You can pick up a copy at the official book launch at Writ & Vision on Friday, July 21st at 7:00 PM. Pick up a copy and stay for a discussion about the book and series with a Q&A afterwards.

I am very excited by how this new volume turned out and I am very proud of the series.”

“Friday morning at the Sunstone Symposium (at the Mountain America Expo Center), I will be presenting as part of a discussion called Mashing Up Mormonism with two professors, James Krause (UVU) and Christopher Lewis (U of U).

“I love hearing people with doctorates discuss my work on an academic level. I’ll be there discussing it too of course. We’ll discuss all of my Mormon art, but it will probably mostly focus on Future Day Saints.”

“Saint McClellan sketch.”

“Here’s my finished icon illustration of Daniel O. McClellan. I met him last Friday but only for a few seconds before my Sunstone presentation started. The icon was done as a design for a puzzle that Sunstone had out on a table for people to put together during the symposium. The puzzle is not for sale, though I have given Dan all the rights to it, so it’s up to him if he wants to do anything with it.”

“People with Bee Totems are socially focused and autonomously driven, always willing to help with urgency and promoting joy and love, but their kindness should never be taken for granted. They possess a remarkable ability to construct and organize their lives efficiently, drawing from the wisdom of Bee Medicine, avoiding wasteful detours. Bee-born individuals are warm-hearted hosts, valuing their sacred homes and embracing their destined mission as perpetual students in nature’s classroom.”

Lacee Siler Black

“This was an exercise in creating a very simple illustration of specific text from a book. The idea was to create it with drawings scavenged only from my sketchbook doodles. I was given a passage from the book Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll, where Alice meets the character of Humpty Dumpty.”

Future Day Saints: The New Arrivals is now available for preorder at: https://epluribusmormon.square.site

“This 100 page hardcover graphic novel is the final book in the FDS trilogy and will start shipping out sometime in July. When I order these books from the printer, it costs a lot of money up front, so pre-ordering them helps me to be able to afford the printing and shipping investment. Thanks to all of you who have already ordered.”

“If you would rather pick it up from me in person, you can save yourself the shipping cost and just Venmo me the money.”

“Ready for a day at the pool.”

“Sneak peak for my Facebook friends. I have finished laying out my Family Portrait zine, which I will print as soon as I get the money to print them. So hopefully August. Or maybe later in the fall. It will be 20 pages, including seven new drawings I haven’t posted before and most of the of the drawings you have seen have been tweaked and improved.”

Katrina Parkinson

“A medieval battle sketch. Learning how to create busier compositions. Creating organized chaos seems to be a skill set of its own!”

“I spent some time going through my sketch books looking for some decent drawings to frame for an art display I have on view at the Tooele Chamber Chamber of Commerce this month. I didn’t put this one into the show but thought it deserved to be posted. This was the little 9” tall concept sketch for my painting “Reaching for the Light” which turned into a 3 ft x 4 ft oil painting. Small concepts have the potential to turn into large pieces of colorful art.”

Carol Ross

“I designed these ads for The City Library last week. They are currently displayed in digital monitors at the Salt Lake International Airport! Ad photography by my talented colleague Jeri Gravlin.”

“I get to design environmental graphics to spruce up spaces! In this project at the Marmalade Library Branch, the client wanted to a) somehow delineate the children’s section as well as to b) make it more visible from the entrance.”

“To visually identify this area, I used a bright color palette and large color blocks to unify the space visually and from a distance. Then I designed a fun patterned background of colorful abstract art shapes. “

“I also designed the same pattern to go on frosted vinyl at the bottom of the glass walls. (That will be installed next week attached is a rough mockup) And finally, a sign naming the space in vinyl letters. I really love how it turned out!”

Erin Salazar

“People with the Rabbit totem are known for their unpredictability, spontaneity, and fast reflexes. They possess keen observation skills, nurturing qualities, intelligence, and wit. Rabbit people excel in achieving success and are generous in offering guidance, capable of intuitively discerning between paths of danger and paths of success.”

“The frog symbolizes cleansing and can help clear negativity and toxic energies. Its association with water makes it a suitable spirit animal for emotional release. The frog spirit may indicate the need to detoxify and take care of one’s health, release emotions, and be mindful of energy spent in relationships or important matters. Additionally, it can inspire a renewal of perspective and encourage letting go of old beliefs to adopt new ones.”

“People with the Crab totem are initially delicate and self-protective, requiring trust to be earned. Once befriended, they become extroverted and enjoy exploring new challenges. These individuals consistently succeed in reaching their goals, utilizing unorthodox methods along the way.”

“People with the Platypus totem embrace solitude and feel detached from mainstream society, finding comfort in their uniqueness and strong character. They excel in careers involving solitary work with sensitive equipment like computers or scientific sensors, showcasing their independence and efficiency. These individuals fearlessly utilize their imagination and logic to manifest their desires in life, while skillfully reflecting on their experiences and subtly imparting wisdom without being preachy.”

“This collaboration was meant to be long before it was even thought of. As an illustrator I’ve worked on a few projects that involved me illustrating swimsuits and each time I’ve been told by someone that they wish that they were actual swimsuits they could wear. Tomorrow is the first time that these little swimsuit illustrations will actually be more than just a cute illustration. Lime Ricki Swimwear picked a few of my favorite prints and created the prettiest swim collection with them. This collection has me wanting sunshine and flowers even more now. I will have a link on my website for you to see them as soon as they are available.”

“I stopped by the Lime Ricki Swimwear shop in Murray to see my new suits in the store. I cannot tell you enough how fun that store is. It’s so colorful & happy. I often work with brands that are online so I don’t always get to see my prints hanging on the rack. Seeing these suits in a store just made my day.” 🌸💛

“I just love it when my sketches end up on such pretty products. The Blue Roses collection for @thefoggydog is my favorite and I’m so happy to finally have a dog bed with my pattern on it. I’ve linked a few products & I will also add them to my stories so you can see the entire collection.”

“The graphics team truly does the most — signs in-person around the zoo for events or telling you there is not an animal visible or even telling you an animal’s name and age, digital graphics (like event schedules and event invites), to our gifs, photography for food and events, educational videos, billboards, maps, brochures, and more! In fact, if you follow us on social media or if you’ve ever been to the zoo irl, there’s a 100% chance you’ve seen something designed by our graphics team.”

We can hardly believe that it’s been a decade since our first issue hit the shelves. We wanted to take a moment to thank all of our readers and fans who have supported us throughout the years. Your encouragement and love for our quirky characters and unique storyline has kept us going, and we couldn’t have made it this far without you. To celebrate this milestone, we’re working on some exciting new projects that we can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned for updates, and once again, thank you for being a part of our journey.”

Sunstone Symposium
July 27, 28, and 29 in Sand
y, UT

As for the presentation I will be a part of this year, here is the description…

ABSTRACT:
In this panel discussion with artist and author Matt Page, we will explore how he critiques contemporary Mormonism through humor and satire. He embraces his religious and cultural experience while poking fun at the idiosyncrasies of Mormonism through an array of parody mashups, in which he combines mainstream pop culture and Mormon themes. By employing adaptation strategies of remix and mashup, Page draws attention to the adaptable nature of Mormon theology and practice.

PRESENTERS:
James Krause, PhD manages the language lab and teaches courses in Portuguese and Brazilian studies in the Department of Languages and Cultures at Utah Valley University. He currently researches graphic novel and mashup adaptations of Brazilian literature.

Christopher Lewis, PhD is an associate professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah where he teaches courses in Portuguese and Brazilian studies. Current research projects include contemporary Mormon literature.

Matt Page is a graphic designer, artist, and author. Recent work includes the graphic novel series, Future Day Saints. In 2020 he won the Association for Mormon Letters award for best comic.

“The call of the hummingbird totem will guide you to open up to love and lightness in your emotional life. When you see your totem, you are encouraged to open up your heart and expose yourself more to joy and love. It might be time to show how you feel to loved ones or people who are close to you.”

“Puffin symbolism could be letting you know that you should take some time to think of someone else instead of yourself. While caring for yourself is essential, maintaining healthy relationships with loved ones is also imperative.”

“Koala has a strong sense of family and motherhood. Showing both sides of her nature with extreme balance knowing when to growl and when to smile. Koala has the spiritual lesson of controlled emotions with a calm attitude and bringing out the wisest of outcomes. The Koala is the observer the watcher of all things below her. Through calm observation wise and just decisions are made. Koala totems are at their best when given time to meditate upon minor and major parts of their life.”

“A two-sided flyer that I just completed. One of the biggest challenges of this project was in creating all of the color swatches for the sheepskin. I had one large piece that I photographed at all kinds of different angles and lighting to try and capture the texture. “My Doodle book is here!✨

You can get yours in the link or on Amazon! 🌈 $12.99 https://linktr.ee/DiddlyDoodly

Having chronic anxiety made me want to make a book to help others find healthy outlets for stress. Tracing for focus and coloring for relief!

If you feel overwhelmed, try my book for 30 minutes and you will notice the interrupting thoughts will slowly disappear.

I’d love to see what kind of world you make with my book! Have fun and doodle on!”
