Cecilie Bahnsen Breathes Life Into Leftover Fabrics in Patchwork Encore Collection

Launching at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Just a month ahead of her upcoming runway presentation at Paris Fashion Week, Cecilie Bahnsen has launched a new installment of her ongoing Encore collection, which uses materials upcycled from previous seasons.

Initially launched in 2020, the Encore project is one that is dear to Bahnsen, adding to the sustainably-minded spirit of the house. “Our Encore collections are incredibly dear to me. They are a real passion project and one that allows my team and I to reflect and celebrate past seasons — both fabrics and favorite silhouettes. There is so much storytelling in each piece and so much precious time and creativity that goes into bringing the final collection together,” the designer explains in a press release.

Dubbed Patchwork Encore, the latest range features the Danish native’s signature pouf dresses and tops constructed with a mix of leftover fabrics from previous collections. Small pieces of fabric are stitched together to create an entirely new design, which is seen in some of Bahnsen’s most loved silhouettes, such as the Tilde, Ruth, Selena, Rosie and Feo. Maintaining a monochrome black-and-white palette, the lineup is highlighted with hints of yellow beading. The Patchwork collection is one of my favorites as each piece is so rare, we’ve made so few of them, which makes them very special. Encore speaks to so many of our values as a company thinking and creating responsibly,” the designer added.

The Patchwork Encore range was launched in Bahnsen’s home ground at Copenhagen Fashion Week in partnership with the creative space studio x, which hosted a pop-up exhibition from February 1 to 3. You can head over to the Cecilie Bahnsen website to order the Patchwork Encore collection. For those based in Copenhagen, the designs are available at studio x for a limited time.
