With over 500 species and even more cultivars, there's a Hoya out there for everyone! They're native to Southeast Asia and their common name, waxplant, refers to their thick, waxy leaves which help them retain water in the heat. Warts on my Hoya Hindu Rope Hi Everyone! I am fairly new to taking care of indoor plants and the app has been helping a lot! But I am not aure if something is wrong with one of my new plants. I was reporting my Hoya today and noticed some strange warts on the vine part. When I received it, the leaves looked a little damaged, but I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now that I see the vine I’m wondering if that is causing the leaf problems or if that is normal? There is new growth happening near the tip of the vine.

So this little cutie arrived in the mail today. It is in pretty good shape, except for a couple of leaves with this patterning on them. I sprayed it with Captain Jack's already, and haven't seen anything moving. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks. #Hoya

SOS my plant is sick and I don't know how to help! #newplantmom #rootrot #plantsmakepeoplehappy I recently got this new Hoya carnosa compacta (rope plant) in mid September. She was doing great at first, but now the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. Does anybody know why/what this is and how I can help??

Overwater? Underwater? Light ? My Hoya “Compactas” are starting to wrinkle on their leaves and my variegated one is losing its color, and leaves are drying out/falling off…My first ever “hoya” anything so of course Ives googled and it’s still confusing. Do they like misting ? Should I repot ? Is it a water issue ? Google is taking me all over the place. Any suggestions and care tips to get them luxurious would be greatly appreciated 🥺

New plant alert! #Hoya I just got the Hoya and I really don’t know much about them. I’m so new at this. Are the stems supposed to look this dry looking?

Yellowing Leaves #Hoya It’s my bad. 🥺 Loosing leaves on this plant is bad because it’s a very slow growing plant. It will take a long time to recover. 😢 ☀️It’s located near a west filtered window, but it’s usually cloudy, or raining, in the afternoon, so it’s not getting the bright indirect light it requires. I should have use it’s umbrella plant grow light. This plant is so special it has its very own grow light. (Shhhh🤫 don’t tell my other plants.) 💧It’s easy to overwater a plant that’s not getting enough light, because the soil stay damp too long. ▫️Finally, for the first time I sprayed this plant with Neem Oil, to prevent mealy-bugs. Maybe it don’t like Neem Oil. What do you think? It didn’t have mealybugs…. It’s never had mealybugs…but this plant is highly susceptible to mealybugs. And because of the curly leaves, mealybugs are almost impossible to get rid on this plant. ▫️For now on, I’m going to stick with its monthly treatment of one teaspoon of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide per cup (8 oz) of water. Thanks for reading (listening). I feel better already. 🙂

What other plant parents say
The hoya compacta is a very sturdy houseplant...BUT, I was dumb and left it in a shady part of my room... it didn’t kill it, but it definitely didn’t thrive. now it’s right in front of my window (north facing) and it’s looking a lot better. in general if you have a window facing south or west i would definitely recommend to keep your hoya in that room in a spot where it can get a moderate amount of light. 🌞🪴
When I first received this lady, she was pretty well kept. My mistake was having her near a lighted candle which shocked a stem and caused immediate shrinkage of leaves. After cutting the damage and re-locating closer to a east facing window, she’s doing great again. Even recovering halved leaves with new fiber growth. A slow grower without fertilizer, but could be faster in a perfect spot for indirect, bright light and a water time table. Do not recommend for house/apartment that tends to stay cooler.
