Gophers Mourn Loss of Flip Saunders

The University of Minnesota is saddened to learn of the loss of former Gopher Philip "Flip" Saunders, who passed away Sunday at age 60.
Saunders played for the Golden Gophers from 1974-1977, where he scored 842 points, 365 rebounds and 256 assists in his four-year career. He went on to a career in college and professional basketball that spanned five decades, most recently serving as head coach and president of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Included in that time was time on the Gophers bench, where he served as an assistant coach from 1981-1986.
