・セミアルバ系花の往年の銘親 C. Kittiwake（キティウェイク）系の代表的品種。
＜個体‘Splendor’について＞
・株がよく出来ると花径17cmを越す極大輪花を着けます。
・比較的コンパクトな株から開花し始め、比較的、育て易く多くの方に愛培されている個体。
・気品と華やかさを兼備した不朽の銘花とでもいうべき、極美花だと思います。
・交配親としても重用され、数々の素晴らしい品種を生み出した実績を有しており、近年になってもなお、本種を親とした登録がなされていることが本種の交配親としての優秀さを証明しているとも思えます。
・近年、さすがに見かける機会は減りましたが、それでも入手は比較的容易な人気品種だと思います。
・こういった往年の銘花系の人気品種にはありがちなことのようですが、メリクロン生産された株を、さらにメリクロンするといったことが繰り返された結果、悪い方向へ変異する株も見られ、本種にも株や花が小さく、本来の魅力を発揮できていないものも出回っているようですので、入手の際は実際の花を見て納得した上で入手されることをオススメします。
