Habenarias:
If you have never tried Habenarias, these are very easy to grow and extremely rewarding. They make excellent plants to grow in the home. They go dormant after flowering and so there is no humidity problem during the winter. Also, they frequently multiply by forming more than one tuberoid for the following year. Also you have me to help you! I will send a culture sheet with every Habenaria ordered and I'm always available to help you through and problems you may have. (The Habenaria photos are from AOS award records.)
I do not ship Habinarias unless they are in active growth. This can be any time from spring to summer. This way I can guarantee that you will get a healthy plant.

Masdevallias:
A note on Masdevallias: Many who try Masdevallias have been unsuccessful. These plants generally need cool temperatures and high humidity. Air movement is also necessary because cool, damp conditions are breeding grounds for bacteria and fungi. Even the warmth tolerant species and hybrids need to be grown with these conditions as much as possible. If you grow these beauties in the house be sure to use the “double potting” technique. All of the below plants are divisions and are blooming size.
I do have some divisions of awarded and award quality Masdevallias. Please call if you are interested.
Bulbophyllums:
A note on Bulbophyllums: This is the largest genus in the Orchid family comprising over 2600 species. There is very little work done on hybrids but results are promising. The main requirement for these is humidity. At least 60% with optimum of 80%. Temp. is intermediate - warm.Another important consideration is air movement. Sphagnum moss (only 2" deep) is the preferred potting media. I have begun to use fine bark as a top dressing to prevent algae from forming on the moss. Good water quality is important and the plants like to be kept very moist in the growing season. As the weather cools lighten up a bit on watering but do not allow to dry. Bulbos like light in the Phalaenopsis to Oncidium range.
The following Bulbophyllums are in 2" pots and priced at $15.00 each
Bulb. frostii X veitchianum 'A-doribil' - More compact expectations. I am guessing a yellow background with burgandy markings.
Bulb. Elizabeth Ann X lasciochilum 'Dark' I'm hoping for compact plants with dark flowers. I think lasiochilum will result in fewer flowers and the sepals will be opened up. Very Interesting!
Bulb. J.M. Guilloty 'Wade's Orchids' X bicolor This should be an easy grower. One of my favorite bulbos, J.M. Guillaty is (annandalei X frostii) and is a constant bloomer with stripped on a tawny yellow background. I am hoping that bicolor will make the striping more prominent. I'm really looking forward to seeing these bloom!
Bulb. Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry' FCC/AOS This is a cross of rothschildianum X longissimum. Rosettes of flowers are produced in the fall with fused sepals up to a foot long. The background is off white with pink stripes.. Makes a good specimen plant!
4" pots $30.00
"
Bulb. falcatum 'Standing Tall' AM/AOS This is an incredible spring blooming species. It is a member of the section Megaclinium where the flowers are borne alternately on a flattened flower spike called a "rachis". In this clone, the rachis is garnet red and the flowers are bright yellow! Also, falcatum has the wonderful habit of branching freely which makes for a wonderful specimen plant. These are divisions from the origonal plant.
4" pots $30.00
Miscellaneous species and hybrids:
Angraecum florulentum (Comoro Islands) This is as close as you will come to a perfect Angraecum. It is small growing and will do well in a pot or mounted with some moss to retain moisture. This is not an easy species to find.
2" pots $18.00 These are small plants.
Gomesa radicans (formerly Stigmatostylix) These members of the Oncidium alliance bloom early fall on spikes of small white flowers. they are lightly fragrant and very easy to grow. They are also good candidates for growing under lights as they don't get over 6" tall. Very tolerant of conditions and very reliable.
$25.00 3 available Flowering size in 3" pots.
Maxillaria variabilis 'Dark Eyes' Max. variabilis is commonly seen with yellow flowers. This one is intense blood red! It is just as easily grown as the other forms and a reliable winter bloomer that will continue to send flowers for 2 months on mature plants.
$20.00 4 available in 2" pots. Blooming size. (available starting June)
Oncidium ampliatum (Central America) The common name for this is "The tortoise shell orchid" because of its compressed and rounded psuedobulbs which become wrinkled and spotted with age. Large plants can get flower spikes up to 3 feet long with 50 or more flowers on branching sprays. The sepals have light brown markings on a yellow background while the prominent petals and lip are clear yellow. I grow these drier than most Oncidiums and with a bit more light - essentially like a Cattleya. This is a unique and desirable species.
$25.00 1-2 years from blooming
Phragmipedium Sorcerer's Apprentice 'Trinity' AM/AOS X self) This is a selfing of one ot the best Sorcerer's Apprentice ever shown. Tkhese are large plants that initiate flower spikes in spring. They are sequential flowering and a mature plant can have flowers year round. Mine has not be without flowers for over 6 years. The best will have flowers over 4" across. The overall color is green with varying amounts of reddish brown on the outer half of the petals and also on the pouch. These are show plants!!! PHOTO
$15.00 2" pots
Phragmipedium longifolium ('Windy Hill Midnight' AM/AOS X 'Woodstream' AM/AOS) When you combine two awarded clones of a species the chances of the progeny being excellant are increased dramatically! This is what has happened here. Both awarded parents are among the most colorful and largest flowers that have ever been seen. Also, these are growing rapidly and seem to be robust plants. If you like Phrags. or have been thinking about trying one this will not disappoint! PHOTO
$20.00 Plants are in 3" pots.
Mtssa. Fort George Beauty (Milt. spectabilis X Br. maculata) This is a classic that was registered in 1973! White flowers with large purple spots are produced on star shaped flowers in late summer to early fall. For a Miltassia, these are compact growing plants. I doubt that anyone else is offering these.
Flowering size plants in 4 1/2" pots. $30.00
Restrepia (elegans X dodsonii) You rarely see hybrid Restrepias for sale. I suspect one reason is the physical process of pollenation is so small that it's almost impossible! These are nice clumps of plants that will produce flowers with an orange background covered with red spotting. Flowering size in 3" clay pots. $30.00
Stelis morganii 'Wade's Orchids' (Awarded CCM/AOS of 85 pts. on Feb. 3, 2022) This is one of my all time favorite orchids! This is a miniature orchid in the Pleurothallis complex. The flowers are chartruese and only about 1/8" across. I have owned this plant about 10 years and it has never stopped flowering! Even in a 2" pot it is not unusual to have hundreds of flowers the entire year. Grow intermediate and moist with high humidity. PHOTO

PHOTO
Flowering size divisions in 2" pots $30.00
