Common Name Forrest's Pleione [English Plant Collector China 1900's] - In China Huang Hua Do Suan Lan
Flower Size 3 1/4" [8 cm]
Found in Myanmar and northwestern Yunnan province of China on moss-covered boulders and cliffs in shady side valleys at elevations of 2200 to 3100 meters as a mat building, small sized, cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with narrow-ovoid or conical, dark green pseudobulb that can be flushed basally by dark purple and carries a single, apical elliptic-lanceolate leaf that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, to 2 3/4" [7cm] long, single flowered inflorescence that arises before the leaves of the next growth.
