Common Name or Meaning The Paquisha Masdevallia [A town in Ecuador]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 1500 to 1750 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with slender, blackish erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the blackish petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring, on a reclining to suberect, slender, 1.2 to 2.4" [3 to 6 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, with a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract.
