Found in Huanuco department of Peru at elevations around 2800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped by 6 to 8, long-ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, purple suffused beneath, broadly elliptical, obtuse to rounded apically, broadly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on a slender, far longer than the leaf, 7.6" [19 cm] long, distantly and successively several flowered inflorescence with a shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
Similar to L agatarum, L chelonion, L calocodon, L cymbium and L nautilaus. Differs in the upper lobes of the black petals are elongate, narrow and curved forward to protrude from the sepaline cavity. The blades of the lip are pubescent, oblong and convex. They cover the column above the middle because the short connectives are connate to the column near the middle. The slender appendix is in contact with a forked process within the stgmatic cavity."
