Common Name The Sword Carrying Catasetum

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Brazil's central Plateau in Mato Grosso and Goiás states in savannahs at elevations around 200 to 650 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with clustered, fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped basally by deciduous leaf sheaths and carrying up to 10, arched, oblanceolate leaves that blooms in the summer on a basal, arched, racemose, 20 3/4" [52 cm] long, many [32] flowered inflorescence with resupinate flowers.

This species was considered to be a form of Catasetum barbatum but differs in the 3 toothed, basal callus, abscence of cilia in the basal part and the smaller pollina but now is considered a part of the C barbatum complex.
