A species from Vietnam with robust club like pseudobulbs. This species rests in winter and flowers in spring. Plants should be grown in a pot or basket, in a rich media that will drain well. Dendrobium amethystoglossum

Clusters waxy white, amethyst purple lip, bottle brush type. Dendrobium amethystaglossum is a section pedilonum species, characterised by the dense clusters of showy flowers. A small pot or basket with a media that will stay damp but not wet suits most of this section. The old canes are deciduous to flower, with the flower heads produced along the cane. A rest in winter is essential, withhold water but keep just damp until new growths appear, then lots of water and fertiliser will produce tall robust new canes that flower the following year.
